Get Paid For Just Going On Job Interviews
How would you like to get paid to go on job interviews? Well, now you can. Unbelievable as it may sound. A new online company called NotchUp is looking to take the HR world by storm. They plan to flip the whole interview process on it’s head by having employers pay job candidates for their time. Here’s how it works….
A calculator, that takes into account your current position, education, experience, and current compensation helps you nail down what price to set. You can also pull any number you want out of the air. Payments to you are made via Paypal.
This is somewhat like a good faith payment. If a company is willing to pay for your interview time, you can be pretty sure you’re not just there to fill some sort of diversity objective. The company also pays NotchUp for each interview that is completed.
Here’s what I like about the concept.
(1) For the first time you can get paid for your interview time, whether you get the job or not.
(2) It incents passive job candidates to explore the marketplace. No matter how great the job is that you currently have, all it takes is one little change — like a new boss, a bad quarter, a reorganization – to create an insecure job situation. This new service incents the passive job candidate to stay in touch in the marketplace.
(3) Setting up an account is easy. All you have to do is just import your LinkedIn profile and name your price. You then can adjust your settings to block your current company. You also set your preference as to whether or not you want to hear from headhunters. A blessing for some, a curse for others.
(4) You can also make money if you refer a friend to NotchUp. If you do this, you earn a 10 percent referral fee.
Here’s what I don’t like about this site:
(1) You can game the system. A strong job candidate, looking for a little extra cash, can milk the system by simply landing a few interviews. Putting even more truth behind that evil saying, ‘the rich get richer.’
(2) It benefits the people that need the least help. The folks that will benefit most are the folks who are truly at the top of their respective field. For example, if you are a Vice President, Executive VP or Director level in the HR field for example you can clean up. Those folks in lower level positions – who may need this service more than anyone else probably won’t benefit as much.
In any event, this is an intriguing concept and we’ll find out more about this in the coming weeks as the site rolls out. The founders have an open invitation to appear on the Working Podcast and walk us through this intriguing business model.
Stay tuned.
